Derby Restaurant: Reviews & Ratings
We love going to the Derby! Let’s start with the atmosphere. This little restaurant is nestled in the heart of this car storage facility. This space houses some of the most amazing vehicles in all of Texas! They offer tours or you can just browse the collection right from your table while you eat your meal. The food is delicious. The ever evolving menu has something for everyone. From small bites to full meals the food is always so good. Now let’s get to service! The service here is always outstanding. We particularly love Jinah. If Jinah is working we are there! She takes her job seriously. Whether it’s making cocktails behind the bar or making sure you get your food, the girl can hustle. We will continue to be patrons at the Derby and always share this hidden little gem with all of our friends and family! Enjoy!
Cool place to go if you're into cars. The food is average. It's good, but it won't give you that core memory that brings you back over and over. The picture of the sandwich below was a Cuban sandwich. The menu description hyped it up. I can make that with a trip to Walmart and 10 at home. Again, it was good, just nothing special. We got there for brunch around 11 am on a Sunday. We had a party of 6 and there were no more that 10 other guests in the entire restaurant. They must have been shorthanded because it took over 10 minutes to get water and my buddy waited over 15 minutes (after we got our water) for a bottled beer. He ordered his beer when she got our drink order. It took so long, when our waitress finally brought it, we both forgot he ordered it. The $15 to do a guided tour is a bit steep. Especially when our tour guide was rushing us. Someone in our tour group asked lots of questions and on the last isle, we were all rushed out. It's a cool business idea. I think it was a car club originally, then the restaurant came later. Gotta pay for those cars somehow.
There are not enough words to describe how phenomenal our first time experience was at Derby! We’ve only lived in Dallas a little over two years and have always passed Derby without a full idea of what the place is. For my husbands birthday I decided to make dinner reservations for us and the children. Immediately upon arrival we were greeted very warm and shown to our table. Prior to our server Bri introducing herself and getting us squared away with drinks multiple members of the staff walked by the table , spoke and engaged with our children. The food was amazing, we enjoyed every single item. The warm hospitality did not lack at any point. I snuck off to the car to retrieve my husbands cake and Bri didn’t hesitate to keep it cool for us while we finished dinner. The staff all signed a birthday card for my husband as well as continued to engage with us and make sure we were happy throughout the dinner experience . We were actually amazed at the thoughtfulness as well as the continued hospitality. We even were able to tour the cars and find out lots of fun facts and information, we were even more amazed at the memberships they offer and how beneficial it would be for my husband to join. I don’t think anyone could describe the Derby experience and I think everyone should have the experience on their own. We will be joining and we will make this a top spot for our out of town guests! Than you to the staff from the front door to the kitchen!
Hands down my favorite spot in all of Dallas — maybe even the whole damn county. Derby is the perfect blend of phenomenal food, killer service, and jaw-dropping atmosphere. From the moment you walk in, you’re surrounded by a museum-level collection of dream cars — everything from Mustangs and Camaros to Bentleys, classic trucks, and old-school hot rods. It’s like dining inside an automotive fantasy. The food? Absolutely to die for. Every dish is cooked perfectly — juicy, flavorful, and served fast even when the place is packed. Parking is easy, getting there is a breeze, and the staff are top-notch from start to finish. And the garage tour is something you can’t miss. Our guide was incredible — passionate, funny, and full of great stories about every car in the building. It’s the kind of experience you remember long after you leave. Sure, it can get a little noisy when it’s busy, but honestly, that’s just the sound of people having a damn good time. Derby nails everything: the food, the service, the atmosphere, and the experience. If you haven’t been, go. If you have, go again.
The guys said the cinnamon rolls were incredible! I'm gluten free so of course, I didn't try them. The meals were fine, now exceptional. Gluten free options are limited and you have to ask the staff as it isn't marked on the menu. The chocolate mouse was gf.
We had such a fun time here! The food was absolutely delicious, and the drinks were definitely strong enough to keep the adults happy. The real highlight, though, was the car tour—it’s totally worth it. You pay a bit for the tour, but you get a full history of the cars and a chance to explore the whole garage. My husband and kids were completely into it, and honestly, I loved seeing their excitement. It’s a perfect mix of good food, fun drinks, and a little something extra that makes the visit memorable. Definitely a spot I’d recommend for a family outing or even just a fun night out—you really get the full experience!
We had a group come for my oldest son's 18th birthday and it was a great experience! I had the fried chicken thighs with hot honey glaze and cheesy grits....absolutely delicious! It was a big portion and I was disappointed I couldn't finish it all! My boyfriend had the Red Snapper Etouffe and cleared his entire plate! Others at our table had burgers which they said were delicious too! The service was great! Our waitress was very patient and kind while taking drink orders from my indecisive younger children. The cars were the icing on the cake! We did the tour and it did not disappoint! So many gorgeous cars...it was hard to choose a favorite!
We were lucky to come on a Saturday, they had Porsche and Corvette car show ⭐ the food is so delicious, chicken & waffles we booked a car tour inside as well, the guide was very informative on the vehicles they have ⭐
